With the dramatic developments in the Telecom / Datacom market in recent years, we have seen a rapid rise in the popularity of 2mm backplane connectors.

This type of interconnect product has been developed to meet the higher speed and higher density requirements of PBX, ATM and networking equipment including bridges, hubs, servers and routers.

These connectors are now being used more and more in the computer / peripheral market as well as the industrial and instrumentation markets.

Fujikura DDK’s HTC range of Hard Metric connectors (including Compact PCI) comply with the IEC 61076-4-101 specification and are therefore intermateable with all other similarly compliant product.

To produce a more “PCB friendly” connector, compared to competitors Hard Metric connectors, Fujikura DDK have developed their patented C-Flat pin which helps to equalise the stress to the PCB during the press fit operation.

This in turn minimises PCB damage, therefore saving the user on PCB re-working costs. This unique pin shape has been developed with rounded off corners and a flat area that allows for pin shape change during PCB insertion (see diagram below).
