Training FAQs

If any of your questions aren't answered on our FAQ page, please don't hesitate to contact us by e-mail at training@fujikura.co.uk or by phone on +44 (0)1373 825582.

What qualifications can I gain after the City & Guilds?

Your next step after you've achieved your City & Guilds in fibre optics would be to join a NVQ Level 1 (Installing fibre optic communication links). NVQs however differ from a City & Guilds qualification, as they are assessment standards and not a training course. We are hoping to run NVQs as of next year, please contact us for more details.

Will I get a job once I'm qualified?

As manufacturers, we are able to put you in touch with other professionals within the industry that may be able to help. We have excellent links with employment agencies, as well as having a job vacancy board on site with regular updates.

Will I have to purchase books or manuals?

No, we provide full training notes and all assessment documents.

What equipment will I have to bring to the course with me?

You will not need to bring any equipment with you, but we do recommend toe protected footwear.

What should I wear?

Don't turn up dressed in your Sunday best! Cable preparation work can be messy so old clothes will be most suitable. Toe protector boots will be handy if you have them, as most courses cover a lot of external installation work. However, we do provide overalls to all trainees.

Who's teaching the courses? And what is their background?

Fujikura course tutors range from communication engineers, telecom managers and other industry related professionals. All are experts in fibre optics and are able to provide you with their personal views of the industry.
