POLYETHYLENE INSULATED CABLES (BS 5308 Part 1: 1986)

Suitable for operation at voltages up to and including 300V r.m.s. core to earth and 500V r.m.s. core to core and at maximum of 70°C.

Categories of Cable

Cables are categorized into 3 types as follows:

Type 1: Polyethylene insulated and PVC sheathed

Type 2: Polyethylene insulated, Polyethylene bedded, single wire armoured and PVC oversheathed

Type 3: Polyethylene insulated, PVC bedded, lead alloy sheathed, PVC bedded, single wire, single, wire a rmoured and PVC oversheathed.

Capacitance unbalance

The Maximum pair to pair capacitance unbalance values at 1kHz shall be 250 pF/250m.

Colour Indentification

The standard colour of sheath shall be black, other colours available (eg. Blue for intrisically safe-circuit).
